Fabio Capello.
Fabio Capello is one of the world's most famous and successful football coaches.
Personal history:
Fabio Capello was born in 1946 at
San Canzian d'Isonzo in the province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
His parents are Guerrino and Evelina Capello. Fabio Capello is a
devout Catholic. Fabio Capello´s agent is his son
Pierfilippo Capello. Fabio Capello and his wife, Laura Capello,
have been married for over forty years. Fabio Capello is a very
cultured man, whose hobbies include reading, painting, music,
theatre, etc.
Career as a player:
Fabio Capello played as a
midfielder. During his club career he represented SPAL (a
football club at Ferrano, in the province of Emilia-Romagna), AS
Roma, Juventus, and A.C.Milan. Fabio Capello won three Serie A
championships with Juventus and one with A.C.Milan. Fabio Capello
ended his career at A.C.Milan in 1980. Fabio Capello played in
the Italian's national team 32 times.
Achievements as a coach:
As A.C.Milan´s coach Fabio Capello won the Scudetto, that is the
Serie A championship, four times in 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94, and
1995-96. As A.S.Roma´s coach Fabio Capello won the Scudetto
in 2000-2001. As Real Madrid´s coach Fabio Capello won the
La Liga in 1996-97 and 2006-07. In my view, as a club
manager/coach, Fabio Capello´s most brilliant achievement
is the victory in the UEFA Champions League in 1994-1995.
A.C.Milan defeated their opponent Barcelona with a score of 4-0.
Daniele Massaro, Marcel Desailly, and Dejan Savicevic scored.
The starting point was challenging for AC.Milan and Fabio
Capello: the defencemen Baresi and Costacurta couldn´t
participate in the match. In addition, the Barcelona coach Johan
Cruyff commentated several times in the media before the game
disparagingly about A.C.Milan, type: "We will certainly win. The
Italian teams play too defensively." The result, however, became
one of the most brilliant in A.C.Milan´s club history.
Video of the match can be found here..
At the moment, Fabio Capello is the coach of Russian national team.
Coaching philosophy:
Fabio Capello´s coaching
philosophy can be summed up in three words: discipline,
discipline, and discipline. This discipline does not mean tyranny,
but professionalism. The coach is ultimately responsible for the
team's success, so he decides who will play, and what is the
strategy for the game. Fabio Capello has himself stated: "The
coach isn´t players´ friend, and he should not try to
be." However, Fabio Capello emphasizes respect for the players
and their equal treatment.
As a coach Fabio Capello is very analytical, examines the
opponent in depth, sets precise roles for players and emphasizes
the importance of team play. He emphasizes the knowledge of the
players and their abilities. The style of the team must be
constituted in a way that the players can play on their strengths
and the game result will be the best possible. The players must
also be required the maximum performance on the field. Fabio
Cappello playing philosophy is based on a tight defensive, on top
of which one can build a successful attack.
In Fabio Capello's speech the words "humility",
"professionalism", "concentration", "intensity", "atmosphere" and
the "club culture" are repeated. Fabio Capello has himself said:
"In the job of a football coach the crucial thing is results.
This isn´t philosophy but a fact."
Said about Fabio Capello:
Arrigo Sacchi:
"Fabio Capello knows how to be hard, if needed. His career speaks
for itself so you can’t argue with his decisions. All
players are treated in the same way. Capello has guts and is not
affected by moods of public opinion, fans, executives, the media
and so on. He is very brave."
Steve Gerrard: "Fabio Capello wants us to play without
fear. He has repeatedly told us, from the beginning, that we have
got to park all that stuff that comes with being an England
player. He's his own man and that's it, not influenced by
anything from the outside and he believes in what he is
doing."
Roberto Carlos: "Fabio Capello´s matches are not
spectacles. The match result will be 1-0, 1-0, 1-0... But the
team is always in order and organized on the field. And always
wins."
